November - month of tragedies and accidents, but also a month of good interpersonal relationships

Summarizing the month of November, you can say that it was, so far, the worst month of this year. There were also good sides, one of the greatest success was good interpersonal relations in our village. However, the number of unpleasant events, crimes and unfortunate road accidents in our area and surrounding neighborhood has reached to the zenith. Let's recall some of them.

Beginning of November: As soon as November began, we were touched by a drastic incident in our cemetery. The ruined tombstones, grief and sadness of the aggrieved families as well as untamed circumstances of bestial behavior touched the hearts of our residents. With tears in our eyes, we looked at the destruction of tombstones of our children, parents, grandparents, etc. People in our area asked what kind of tyrant you have to be to commit such drastic action?! Despite the police intervention, the perpetrators sank into the ground. However, quick response of people in our Village caused that the gravestones have been repaired almost immediately.

The reaction to the cemetery was flashy and the view of a united village is the best thing you can expect from residents of a small village like Thorney. These are the rules of good society. We can be safe and have support in the residents, as it was in the case of a cemetery or even a reaction to a broken electrical box. All these factors show that we can do more together when working together.

Middle of November: Peterborough telegraph announced a car accident between Peterborough and Wisbech. The accident took place near Wisbech, the Vauxhall Astra involved in a collision with a Ford Transit on Black Drive at Morrow. It turned out that the driver of one of the cars is dead. It was a young woman from a neighboring district who had two passengers in her car. Passengers were transported to the hospital immediately, but another person was pronounced as dead few days after. It was the second person killed in an accident on Black Drive at Morrow. Next young lady, mum of three children also was our neighbor, she from Wisbech.

Another sad news is the Council Tax Bill increase. We are still waiting for the final decision on the increase. The consultations ended on November 30th, however, the results will be announced after the meeting on December 13th. We are slowly losing hope that the arguments of society may undermine the arguments of authority, but we believe that the increase will not be colossal. Personally, I think that compromise is the best solution for everyone and I believe that minimum rates for the increase will be accepted by the public without major objections. It is always better to work for the common good than to think only about our-self.

End of November: In the last days of November we have a warning about the harsh winter and we have met the first touching story of one of our residents. The Met office predicts that air temperatures will be much lower and that British residents should be prepared for frost, snow and winter winds. Minus temperatures will hit this weekend, but Met Office experts say it's just a taste of what awaits the whole of Britain soon. According to meteorologists, the coming winter may be the coldest from the last 35 years, and the chances for "White Christmas" in Britain this year are very high.

Finally, Ian - he came to us with the true story of his life. He talked about his unfortunate accident, his disability, life sins and, at the same time, about the happy incident that made his life worth more now than before. One could say that Ian has a new life after the old one. It mainly refers to the motivation of people with disabilities who are struggling with depression. However, he does not limit the advice for non-disabled people. His life experience show that such an adviser with the baggage of experience can really help. He knows best what he went through, what obstacles he had to jump over and what to expect in difficult situations.

In summary, you can say that a lot has happened but we overcame all difficulties. Well done residents.
