Severe winter is coming! Polar air is approaching us with great strides!

The Met office predicts that air temperatures will be much lower and that British residents should be prepared for frost, snow and winter winds.

Minus temperatures will hit this weekend, but Met Office experts say it's just a taste of what awaits the whole of Britain soon. According to meteorologists, the coming winter may be the coldest from the last 35 years, and the chances for "White Christmas" in Britain this year are very high.

Low temperatures in the coming months will be responsible for so-called polar whirls, or cyclone low pressure systems. The mass of air that will land over the Great Britain from the Arctic will cause significant temperatures and snowfall. The last time arctic air masses were able to reach Britain in 2010, then temperatures in some regions dropped to minus sixteen degrees Celsius.

Strong frosts reached last week to many countries of continental Europe, and the low temperatures contributed to the death of many people. So together with Healthy Peterborough we advise everyone to be careful and to take care of their health. Healthy Peterborough has prepared a number of valuable tips for how to survive winter and launch the special program "Stay Well and Keep Warm".

How to protect yourself from freezing, chilling or frostbite:

The most important is the warmth to dress, the dress should be multi-layer (so that in the case of wetting one layer rest dry), loose, preferably from wool or fur. Protect the "protruding parts of the body", i.e. the hands, nose, ears, etc. For the protection of the hands are better than one-finger gloves than five-finger. Mandatory is a warm cap worn on the entire forehead and ears. A scarf can protect your face and lips. However, please remember that with the prolonged covering of the mouth, ice crystals form on the surface of the scarf, which can irritate your lips. A great idea is to add good waterproof boots and warm socks. Popular jeans - this is not a good idea for cool days and nights. Jeans under the influence of low temperatures stiffen, which significantly reduces the comfort of movement, and above it poorly protect from the cold.

The fact is that winter is a difficult season, but the snow is always a joy and excitement for everyone. So let's keep warm and keep going until summer.
