The collection in our village takes place every Friday. Bins are collected alternately every two weeks for a black bin and every two weeks for green and brown bins. We still have a small gray bin - food bin, which is collected every week with one of the above.
In addition the city council offered "Free bulky waste collections that aim to reduce fly-tipping and encourage responsible waste disposal will be trialed in the city from December". The aim is to reduce the polluted environment and maintain cleanliness in our city. Therefore, Dear Thorney Village residents and surrounding areas, please join in this action and get rid of unnecessary trash in the corners of our gardens. And maybe some of you have small furnishings, repairs or destroyed equipment and just waiting for the opportunity to get rid of it? This is your chance. Clean the place of your residence for free and enjoy the spacious space.
PCC said: "This trial is limited to one free collection per household on a first come first served basis. The collection will be for up to 10 items, including mattresses, fridge freezers, white goods and furniture.
Residents will be able to phone Peterborough Direct on 01733 747474 to book a free bulky waste collection from Monday 4 December until 5 March. If the daily limit has not already been filled then the collection will take place on the householder's next scheduled bin day as long as the items are by their bins by 6.45 am"
"Free bulky waste collection" involves and integrates local communities. According to the participants of the action, it is a good tool for self-governments to carry out their activities in the field of waste management as well as a valuable way to carry out for the implementation of plans of order in our city.
More information on the "free bulky waste trial" can be found on Peterborough City Council website
